Rally & Lipsync Battle

Rally & Lipsync Battle

I had a lot of fun on both activities. My classroom decided to dress up as tos story chracters; I went as a Barbie, Sebas went as Ken so we were Barbie & Ken, it was really cool. On the rally I think that for the next time we should be more organize. Although we did not won we still had a lot of fun. After the rally we had the Lipsync Battle. I laughed a lot while watching my friends, I think that they made a great job and I am very proud of them. I really liked having the rally and lipsync battle a day before the final projects because it was a great way of relaxing and having fun.

Final Project: Comedor Visit

Last Comedor visit

The past Tueday 24th we made our last visit to the comerdor “Mi mano contigo”. It was a bittersweet experience, I was happy to see the kids again but also it was really hard to say goodbye this time because we don´t know when we are coming back. Going to the comedor was a great experience; every time I went I learned something new. I learned from the kids that you have to accept ad be happy with what you have. Now I appreciate and I am more thankful for what I have. From my teachers I learned that is always good to share with others what you have. I am very thankful for the moments I spend with those kids. I hope to see them soon.

Life Plan: Conference Reflection

“Love, courage and adventure. Build a biography and make history.”

Last Thursday went to a conference called “Love, courage and adventure. Build a biography and make history.” given by Juan Jose Saldaña. I really liked and enjoyed the conference. He start by telling us that he was getting married and he gave us 5 tips for choosing our dress or suit, then he compared those  tips with tips for being happy in life. Then he told us that to love someone we first need to love ourselves, I had always thing like that and I try my best to follow that. I think that going to the conference was a great experience, it was just what I need to hear and also I felt identified with some of the things he said. It was also a pleasured and privilege to meet a man like him.

PERMA

                                          PERMA

PERMA  is an acronym that stands for the five elements developed by Martin Seligman that account for what makes up the “good life” – an authentic and sustained happiness and well-being. PERMA stands for: positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning and achievement. Positive emotions are about having positive emotions such as: kindness, gratitude and hope. Engagement is about being totally absorbed by a present task where time and self- consciousness seem to cease. Relationship is about maintaining happy, strong and positive relationships. Meaning in life comes from serving something that is bigger than self, it is about finding a purpose in life. Achievement is a sense of accomplishment. Having goals and meeting those goals, improves your well-being and allows you to flourish.

My results were:

Positive emotions: 9
Engagement: 10
Relationships: 5.67
Meaning: 7.33
Achievement: 9

I am happy with my results; I feel that they are true and that I should work on stuff like keeping my relationships and creating new ones. I will also work on finding a meaning and purpose to my life.

El Comedor Asistencial A.C. Mi Mano Contigo

 Mi Mano Contigo

Last weekend me and my classmates went to the comedor "Mi mano contigo". There we gave breakfast to a lot of kids, who really need it. We organize the whole thing, I thing that we made a really good job I am very proud of us. While we were there I learned a lot of thing, those kids made me realize that there are a lot of things to smile and be happy about. I would not change a thing about the visit, maybe just the fact that we arrived a little bit late, but even though the kids enjoy their breakfast.

Life Plan: Habit #5

Seek First to understand, then to be understood

Habit number 5 is about learning how to see things from another point of view before sharing your own. A whole new world of understanding opens to us when we apply this habit. This habit includes five poor listening styles; spacing out, pretend listening, selective listening, word listening and self-centered listening. I think that I am a very good listener, I am always quiet and I enjoy hearing people tell me their problmes, worries or joys, but if I have to choose one poor listening style I choose spacing out. I choose it because sometimes I get distracted very easily, sometimes it is not even my intention. I think I have to work on that.

How to be  a good listener

1.- Be quiet
2.- Pay attention
3.- See things from another point view
4.- Show interest
5.- Do not be rude

Life Plan: Habit #4

Small Acts of  Kindness:

School: I try to make small acts of kindness at school everyday, I just tell my friends they look good or how much I love them. This week I help my friends with their homeworks.

Home: I helped my mom to clean the kitchen. I helped my little brother to make his homework and I took care of my dad when he got a headache.

Community:  On friday I went to Los Pioneros Park for a walk. When I was there I saw a lot of papers and trash, so I dicided to pick them up and put them on a trash can. I felt great doing it, I think that I felt that way because it was spontaneous.

Additional: On Saturday some of my classmates and I  gave breakfast to kids who live on a place called "Los Presidentes". I felt great and proud of us, the kids had a great time and enjoy their breakfast. Some of the kids made us drawings, I really enjoy spending time with them.

Gene 23 Integration Challenge

 First Integration Challenge

The past Thursday October 1st we had our first integration challenge as Gene 23. The challenge consisted on spending the whole break attached to another person. We were supposed to be attached only with people that are not part of our classroom, but for some reason I didn´t  find anyone. I was attached to Karla and Sebas, I had a really fun time with them. It was funny how we tried to move all together. I really enjoy this activity and I am looking forward for the next one. What I would change is that for the next time, I would like to meet new people.

Letter of Thanks

Letter of Thanks to my mom

I wrote the letter of thanks to my mom because I couldn´t think of anyone else than her. I owe my life to her, she is the most amazing human being on earth. I read the letter to my mom last Friday while we were baking brownies. She told me that I didn´t had to thank her for anything, that all that she has made for me is because she loves me. I felt great making this activity and sharing this moment with my mom.
Here is a picture of my letter:

Habit 3: Put things first

Wich quadrant describes the most and why?

The quadrant that describes me the most is quadrant number 2: The prioritizer. I always have my priorities in order; this helps me organize my time. First I do the most important shores and stuff I have to do and then the less important.  I think that knowing how to prioritize is very important and helpful. I am also a very organize person, I think that is because I know how to prioritize my shores.  I think that when you are a prioritizer you are fully aware of all of your responsibilities.  I love knowing how to prioritize and organize.

Problem based-learning

The 4 stages of PBL are: define, design,do and reflect. The steps that my team do better were define and design. We define quickly all the shores that we had to do.  We also made the design stage really well, we all told our ideas and made one big idea. The other two stages didn´t go as well as we planned. On the do stage we got distracted and didn´t made all of the stuff we had planned. We didn´t reflect. I will like to work on the mistakes that we make.

Life Plan

What does it mean to be proactive?

Being proactive is to have initiative, is to be responsible for your actions and decisions, recognize when you are bad but not letting that to affect you. Accept the consequences of your acts and not having excuses for every mistake that you make.

Some example of myself being proactive this week are:
1.- This week I was proactive when I made a biology quiz and got 2 wrong answers. Instead of feeling bad and turning myself down, I started thinking in the ways I could do better.
2.- I was proactive when I made my homework  days before the due date, thanks to that I had more time to sleep. J

3.- This week I was proactive when I went to tutoring services. I recognize that I didn´t completely understand so instead of giving up I tried again.

Habit 1:Paradigms and Principles

1.- Which of the 7 Habits do you think will be most difficult for you and why? Habit #2: Begin with the end in mind, because sometime I don´t know what I want or I don´t achieve my goals.

2.- What is the difference between and Paradigm and a Principle? Give an example of each to help explain your answer.A paradigm is the way you see something, your point of view, frame of reference, or belief. For example if you believe you´re dumb. Principles are the values we live by, like; hard work, respect, and gratitude.

3.-Give an example of a paradigm of self that helps you.  Give an example of a paradigm of others that hinders you.-I´m worth it and I know I can do it.- I´m fat and ugly.

4. Do you think you are stuff-centered?  Why or why not?I don´t think that I am stuff-centered. I think that i have a balance in my life.

5. What would you say are your 5 strongest principles?respect, love. loyalty, hard work, and dedication.

6. Give a quote of phrase that you like to live by.“Whoever loves much, performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is done well.”-Vincent Van Gogh

7. Pick 3 of the Baby Steps at the end of Part 1. Do them five days in a row.  Write a short reflection about what you did and how it made you feel.  I choose the first 3 baby steps. I had to say something nice to myself when I looked in the mirror, show appreciation for someone´s point of view, and contradict a paradigm of myself. The easiest baby step was saying nice things to myself when i looked in the mirror, when i did it I it made me feel great about myself. The second baby step I practiced it on my classes listening to my classmates and telling them that they had a great opinion about the class, I loved this baby step because I got to know how my classmates think. The third paradigm was a little difficult but very fun, every time that i think that i couldn´t do it, I remembered this baby step and do it, I am glad that I followed this baby step, I think that it is going to stick with me forever.

My personal story

Hi I´m Thelma! I was born on October 13th of 1999, in Obregon city, Sonora. I was born premature; I was a very small baby. On 2002, I started kindergarten, and on 2003 when I turned 4 my mom took me to a ballet class, since then I have never stop going. On 2006 when I graduated from kindergarten, my little brother was born, his name is Alex and he was born one day after my birthday. During my years in middle school and junior high I tried new activities that now I can call hobbies. My hobbies include dancing, painting, acting, reading, and watching movies. I love to dance ballet and to watch plays and musicals.  I consider myself an artistic person. I like to make things look pretty, I like creating things with my hands. I don’t like wasting my time; I’m always doing something. I don’t like to play sports but I do like to exercise. I don’t like to eat soup, but  I love to eat pasta and tacos. I love to try new food and travel.
